Here is my 7gal Needle. Aside from mechanical damage, it's doing very well. (I had two large needles, the other one is pretty much dead).
and I just discovered a flower bud. I read somewhere Needle palms are monoecious. anyone had theirs flower before? Only one of the 9 heads or so have the flower bud.
Another plant in bud is a yucca recurvifolia. I know filamentosa heads die after flowering, but they put out lots of pups. This one is just one massive head. Do they branch from the base after blooming? this one never really developed a trunk. I'm a bit surprised, I thought they needed to be taller to bloom.
I have one trachy, which I protect. It did get a little damage after -5F (with xmas lights protection) but it's recovering nicely.
My poor daphniphyllum is quickly becoming kindling. Only the base is alive, there are some sprouts coming out of the base of the main trunk as well. hard to believe but a few weeks ago the entire shrub was fresh and green. I'm at a loss.
This is a pomegranate I grew from seed. It's about a foot tall and I only protected it with a rose cone and leaves. I'm very happy that it's sprouting from all over the twigs.
I have two sabal minors, which completely defoliated. They are recovering nicely.
