I guess this is why it's a different species than the others. I have yucca gloriosa 'faxoniana' form with a flower bud now. it is a VERY vigorous clone, and has grown the fastest from a batch of gloriosas I bought last year. (it is the largest yucca in the middle of the pic)
Now... is the yucca going to die after blooming? I've never had a gloriosa flower before, it doesn't even have a visible trunk, and we are in a drought, so I was surprised to see the bud. It would be a shame if the head dies, it is just so massive. Do gloriosas branch from the base after blooming?
