Here in Wilmington, Delaware, we unfortunately got a heavy wet snow yesterday, along with some icing on tree branches... my BLEs are NOT happy! And then this a.m., we had a low of 17'F. Not what you'd call spring weather and especially sad, since we had an early spring until now... daffodils and camellias have been blooming for a couple weeks already and forsythias, spring cherries and magnolias were blooming this past week, just before this latest round of cold. Spring flower damage must be far worse for you folks in the South, where spring was further along (I am seeing temps in the low 20s in some places down south).
Some pics of the mess around my home from yesterday...
My Magnolia virginiana australis (Henry Hicks) weighed down with ice!
Loblolly Pines, Magnolia grandiflora and my other Henry Hicks magnolia similarly weighed down with ice...
Hopefully the sun will melt this today... but it is only 20'F now!
Flamingo and Fatsias are NOT happy!
But just a few days before this, my 'Spring's Promise' Camellia showed some promise...
