OK, I guess you have the plant so you can try ground layering it? Well, into a pot placed next to the trunk. In my case, pPutting a couple drops of pure dip and grow on the stem seemed to help. I lightly scraped the bark with an x-acto to expose some cambium, of course. I was able to ground layer a Larch this way! Took only 2 months for roots to form by early Nov...I got lucky, I think the autumn heat wave here helped. I should have started earlier than Sept. 1. Previously I ground layered a rhodie, starting in mid-July. Did not use hormones on that one and it still worked.
