I've never heard of that Y. rostrata problem before (breaking off at ground level). However, a Y. gloriosa form did that to me this season. I think the trunk area got damaged and rotted out. Pulling leaves off the trunk may cause such damage. It seemed my Y. schottii died after I pulled the leaves off the lower trunk area. I keep all my Y. rostata leaves on the trunk and do not remove any. It looks better too! PS, where do you live and what's your zone? ![]() |
