If you can't log in to a FB account and it isn't a forgotten log-on password issue, I'd have to think that FB disabled your account. According to their Help page, they do that for various reasons, a complaint or something against their terms, etc. Ordinarily the only personal information they require is an email address and/or a phone number..Since you were trying to delete an account and didn't have access to it with a password, they'd need proof that you were who you said you were. Since a long time has gone by, you might want to try again as a forgotton password but you'd need to use the email they have for them to send a temporary one. If you are able to get in you can deactivate the account yourself..Deleting the account entirely is a little more trouble but deactivating it removes it from accidental public view. Considering the way it's intermingled in so many places...I don't find the stop gaps to be excessive.
