My thoughts:
1. QB - this one's a no-brainer. Jordan Love is on a trajectory that could make him our third-straight HOF QB. Backups are fine also for what they are. They're not in a position to be looking to develop a guy as our future starter right now. So unless you see a low-round QB with the potential to develop for a couple of years and subsequently flip for a higher pick than you took him with, I'd say go with what we have.
2. WR - About as much of a no-brainer as QB in my view. They have a TON of youth, with soooo much potential. Play the guys we have, see who develops, and see where we're at. Unless Marvin Harrison Jr. falls to GB at 25, I'd say we're good with what we have there.
3. TE - The 1-2 punch of Musgrave and Kraft should be a solid foundation for years. MAYBE could use a third guy, but I'd say go with what we have there and see if that third guy is already here.
4. RB - I know a lot of you will argue with this one. I think Jacobs will be more than fine, plus I think he'll be less oft-injured than Jones was - the availability will more than make up for any talent deficit there. They have Emmanuel Wilson as a young guy - I think there's something there if he gets a real opportunity. And then there's A.J. Dillon. I really liked Dillon as a "thunder" to Jones' "lightning"... but Jacobs is more 'thunder' also. Which could relegate Dillon to 3rd string, with a tandem of Jacobs and Wilson being 1-2. But given the contract situation, Dillon has to know this is his last chance to show why they took him in round 2 a few years back. And I think he would do so, which is why I say stand pat at RB.
P - I think Whelan is fine - he didn't do anything last year that makes me say anything other than "Let him continue to develop".
And, that's about it. As I see it, the rest of the position groups are (at least) short on depth; some (OG, S) are in desperate need of starting-caliber NFL talent to be added.
Thoughts?
