(Red Dragon): “….did you ever stop to think about the countless hours I’ve poured into this craft? The sacrifices I’ve made? The battles I’ve fought? Both in and out of the ring? If you did you would realise our journeys are not so dissimilar.”
(Erica): Esatas loco? Are you crazy Sensei? Of course I thought about the countless hours you’ve given. I’ve thought about all of your sacrifices, and battles. And, yes, our journeys are not so different from one another. Estúpido, this is exactly what I’m talking about. I thought your job and your goal was to prepare folks for this business, be a great mentor and guide us. Parents always want better in life for their children than they had, they do whatever it takes so their kid can have it just a bit easier than they did, but not you.
Erica starts getting angry and begins shouting, tears now in her eyes.
(Erica): You have no idea what happened to me in Mexico! You have no idea what my parents endured to bring me here so I could have a better life. Yours hoped on a plane from Japan, while mine carried me on their backs wearing out their shoes until they were barefoot walking to this country. My father is gone because he worked himself to the bone day in and day out, para que mi familia sobrevia! Don’t fuking ask me if I thought about your sacrifices.
I thought you’d be somewhat of a father figure. I thought knowing the business as you do, you’d set us on track to better navigate things, but all you did was put us on the exact same path you followed and said this is good for you. Stay in line! Be disciplined! Train hard! Wait your turn! For what? So I can spend my days putting other people over like you? Por favor!
Erica looks flustered, her hand is shaking as she and digs in her jacket pocket pulling out a pack of cigarettes, takes one out, lights it and takes a long drag brushing her hair back from her face.
(Erica): Now you tell me to “Embrace the values wrestling stands for—strength, honor, and the relentless pursuit of greatness.” What the fuk do you think I’m doing? Why do you think I went to Maniac instead of sticking under your oppressive thumb? You have no idea how relentless my pursuit for greatness is, but you and your little star students are all going to find out. My career isn’t going to be spent playing second fiddle like yours was.
“I’d like to share my vision…” “I endeavour to walk along side my students…” “I strive to create a sanctuary…” “I encourage my students...” That’s all you are is talk, and lies. It’s what makes you weak, and people following you will be weak as a result.” You asked Maestro what he’s going to teach? He’s going to teach me how to get people out of my way. He’s going to teach me what needs to happen to them when they don’t. He’s going to teach me what it takes to be a champion like him. I don’t give a damn if anyone likes me, hates me, respects me, or loves me. I don’t care if I hurt your feelings. You’re disappointed in me? You need to look in the mirror sensei, because you let me down, you hurt me and disappointed me first!
Erica tosses her cigarette down and abruptly ends the recording as the scene fades to black.
