(Butch): Thank you for your patience. I understand that there are many questions surrounding Sean's sudden appearance. Let me address them.
The room fills with anticipation and curiosity as the journalists prepare their inquiries.
(Journalist 1): Mr. Parker, can you explain Sean's outburst and his threats towards Fallen? Will there be any consequences for his actions?
(Butch): Sean's reaction comes from a place of genuine concern and love for Michelle. The boss in me says I don't condone threats or acts of violence but the man, the uncle in me says I don’t blame him for how he feels. And from a personal standpoint, it’s worth noting I’ve been through this exact scenario before so I understand firsthand the emotions he is going through. At this time, we will not be lambasting him for his human reaction to a deeply troubling situation. We will handle it internally, offering support and guidance to help him channel his emotions in a more constructive manner.
(Journalist 2): Why was Legion fired, despite not being directly involved in the incident? Can you elaborate on his dismissal?
(Butch): Legion was present in the room at the time of the incident. While he may not have actively participated, his association and potential influence were significant factors. Had it not been for the courageous intervention of Laney Price, who knows what could have transpired? Our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone involved, and we stand by our decision to terminate his contract.
(Journalist 3): In light of the incident involving Laney Price, will you reconsider her presence during Stu-E Price's matches? How will you address the concerns raised about her safety?
(Butch): The safety and protection of our wrestlers and of our guests, especially minors, are paramount to us. While I understand the concerns raised, I will be having a private conversation with Stu-E about this matter. As my wife, Wisdom, mentioned in her interview with Gayle King, there is always a risk when someone from a non-wrestling background enters this environment. However, we acknowledge that Laney is a child, and no child should feel unsafe. Wisdom and I will discuss this with Stu-E privately, and ultimately, it will be his decision, taking into account what's best for Laney's well-being.
(Journalist 4): Mr. Parker, turning our attention to the upcoming pay-per-view, Art of War, there's a lot of anticipation surrounding the Asylum Match between Maniac and Matt Miller. Given the extremely violent and barbaric nature of this match, are you still confident that it's the right outlet for them to settle their differences?
(Butch): The Asylum Match is undeniably a match of extreme violence and intensity. Considering the tumultuous history between Maniac and Matt since the Reunion Show, I have to acknowledge that sometimes, in the world of professional wrestling, there's a need for catharsis. This match serves as an outlet for both competitors to truly settle their differences in a way that they deem appropriate.
The journalists and reporters exchange glances, understanding the gravity of the situation and the emotional stakes involved.
(Journalist 5): Will the Asylum Match be the main event of the pay-per-view?
(Butch): Yes, indeed. Given the magnitude of the conflict between Maniac and Matt Miller, and the fervor surrounding this match, we believe it deserves the spotlight as the main event of Art of War. It's a match that has captured the attention of the wrestling world, and we aim to deliver an unforgettable showdown for our fans.
The attendees scribble down notes and prepare their follow-up questions.
(Journalist 6): Mr. Parker, we witnessed the shocking debut of Briar and Lilliana Blackthorne at Havoc when they attacked Sarah Callahan and Alexis Rose. Can you provide some insight into their motives and what this means for the women's division?
(Butch): In this business, debuts are often accompanied by statements and the desire to make a memorable impact, whether that’s interrupting a match or attacking someone from behind. The Blackthorne twins have chosen their own path, and their actions speak for themselves. But Sarah Callahan and Alexis Rose are formidable competitors who are more than capable of handling themselves. The upcoming Havoc event in North Little Rock will provide them with the perfect opportunity to settle their differences.
(Journalist 7): Speaking of the women's division, with the recent additions of Alexis Rose and the Blackthorne twins, how do you feel about the progress and development of the division?
(Butch): I'm thrilled with the growth and progress of our women's division. When Michelle, Sarah, and Erica were the only names in the division, we knew we needed to expand and nurture the talent pool. Alexis Rose has showcased her talent and formidable nature, Luna Rain, the daughter of William Draconis, is showing great promise during her training at the Academy, and now we have the Blackthorne twins igniting excitement and rivalry. The division is flourishing, and I'm excited to see what the future holds.
(Journalist 8): Erica Martinez recently made an announcement regarding Jeremy Branson's sexuality. Could you comment on this matter?
(Butch): I was deeply disappointed by Erica's decision to reveal such a private matter to the world. Everyone deserves the right to share their personal information on their own terms. However, Jeremy remains Jeremy in our eyes. He is a fantastic person to have around the locker room, a tremendous talent, and his sexual orientation is no one's business but his own. If he feels that he needs extra support given the circumstances surrounding this announcement, we will provide it to him without hesitation.
(Journalist 9): Mr. Parker, we would like to hear your thoughts on the sit-down interview your wife, Wisdom, had with Gayle King. She addressed several important topics and shared her perspective. What is your stance on her statements?
(Butch): I want to make it clear that I stand by everything Wisdom expressed during her interview with Gayle King. She spoke from the heart, sharing her genuine thoughts and concerns on what was discussed. Personally, I thought Gayle was guilty of ambush journalism and Wisdom responded in a way only she could to address what needed to be addressed. As her husband, she has my unwavering backing and support. Now unless, there’s anything else, I’d like to thank you all for being here today and for your thoughtful and respectful questions. It's refreshing to have a discussion that focuses on the important issues at hand. I appreciate your professionalism.
Butch stands up from the table, offering a nod of gratitude to the journalists.
(Butch): I trust that we have provided some clarity on the matters discussed today. As always, we remain committed to the well-being of our performers, the integrity of the Hardcore Wrestling Alliance, and the continued growth of our industry.
With that, Butch makes his way towards the exit, leaving the journalists to process the information shared. As Butch exits the media conference room, Red Dragon is standing at the door, arms folded across his chest. He has an almost sardonic smile on his face.
(Red Dragon): Butch-San, that was the most impartial I've ever heard you address the media. Quite impressive!
Butch just about manages a soft chuckle.
(Butch): Yeah well, t's a sensitive time, and the media needs to understand that we take these matters seriously, especially after what happened to Michelle. We have to show them that we're committed to handling things the right way.
Red Dragon nods.
(Red Dragon): You're absolutely right, Butch-San. It's crucial we maintain that image of responsibility and accountability. But do you think it’s a good idea to have Sean in a match at Havoc? I don’t think he’s going to be in the right frame of mind.
(Butch): He’ll need the distraction, plus he and Stu-E have a good rapport, it will be a good rematch for the fans.
(Red Dragon): Personally, I don’t think he’ll even want to be there if Michelle isn’t up to being there. Just think on it, Butch-San, this is uncharted territory for you and for Sean.
(Butch): I’ll keep it in mind, Matthew. Where is he anyway? I don’t want him doing anything stupid. He's a Parker after all and when someone he cares deeply about is attacked, emotions run high. We need to ensure he channels that energy in a productive way.
(Red Dragon): He left before I had a chance to speak with him properly but don't worry, he said he was going back to check on Michelle. She’s been staying at his apartment since they got back from Wichita.
A look of relief washes over Butch’s face.
(Butch): That's good to know. They need each other right now. We'll have to reach out to them and offer any support they may need. Their well-being is our top priority. I’m going to go and check on them, just to be doubly sure. Can you make sure that rooms get cleared out properly before your next training session starts.
Red Dragon nods in an acknowledging manner.
(Red Dragon): Of course, Butch-San. Let me know how you get on.
(Butch): Will do.
As Butch and Red Dragon part ways to go about their respective pieces of business, the scene fades to black.
