Re: Does anyone remember a car wreck years ago west of Forest?

My Dad was on duty at Lackey ER the afternoon Gary had his wreck. Gary was DOA at Lackey. Mississippi Highway Patrol Officer John Coleman worked Gary's wreck. Officer Coleman said that unfortunately alcohol and speed were the causes of Gary losing his life. John said that he estimated Gary left Hwy. 80 going over 90 MPH. Years later in 1967, just less than a half mile further to the West of Gary's wreck on Hwy. 80, four male college students from Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe were all killed in a very violent wreck one Saturday afternoon in mid-December of 1967. All four men were driving home for the Christmas holidays. As in Gary's wreck, alcohol and speed were the cause.
