Hal, I was only two and, of course, don't remember the day. My memories begin during the war as my Dad read me letters from uncles involved in combat in Europe. I distinctly recall the day the bomb was dropped...as you say, didn't know what it meant, but, as kids do, I knew the grownups were impacted by something big. I've tried to instill in my girls and the grandkids real appreciation for those who have served and those currently serving including the entire family of the serviceman or service woman, as well as love of country. Thankfully, they "get it" and, hopefully, will pass it on to the next generation...sadly this country, as a whole, does NOT know it's history. ,
