Roy Brantley has passed away

I just learned that Roy passed away yesterday in a nursing facility near his home in Orange City, FL. I talked with his loving wife Susan Brantley today. Roy attended school in Forest until moving to Deland, FL in the early 60’s. He was a Vietnam Veteran who served his country well. He worked for the Florida Department of Highways throughout his career.

Please remember Roy and family in your prayers. Especially remember Dan, his brother, who lost Linda recently. The Brantley family taught me how to play golf at age 13. It’s a sport I still play and enjoy at age 70.

I am so sad to learn this but I am grateful we had such a good time visiting with his wife and him during our fifth reunion.

I am so sorry to hear this. As Joe and Becky have noted, the Brantley family were an important part of our growing up years in Forest. Loved hearing the Cavaliers sing. Roy was in Becky’s class and James, the youngest was in my class. Condolences to the entire Brantley family especially Roy’s and Dan’s families.

So very sorry to hear this. Roy was still considered a member of the Class of ‘66. He attended our 50th class reunion and came to our reunion last year when we celebrated turning 70. Sincerest sympathy to Susan and the Brantley family.

This makes me so sad. We've exchanged Christmas cards since our 50th, and Roy always enclosed a sample of his "coloring book artwork" from elementary school. I had told him he was the best of anyone at coloring, and I used to be jealous. (Actually, he could still beat me any day!) I didn't know he was ill. His wife is a lovely woman and I'll send my condolences.

So sorry to hear about Roy. I enjoyed visiting with him at the 50th reunion. He could tell some good stories. Praying for his wife.
