Snowflakes!

Already had a few random snowflakes around here….had to look hard to see them….but cold enough to remind us Christmas Season is here!

🤣….some of my best friends are snowflakes, Steve…..but they don’t ever seem to melt! 🤣🤣

I’m not ready for the icy kind yet, though. Winter seems to be early this year. The temp says one thing but my bones say something else. It’s COLD! I wouldn’t be surprised if a few flakes floated around tonight and tomorrow.

Our girls gave me an early Christmas present. It’s GREAT!! I love watching the birds at our feeder. But when it’s cold I close the shutters and can’t see them feed. My gift is called a Bird Buddy feeder. It has a camera in it! I see them close up and now I don’t get a thing done but watch the birds on my phone! It also “names” them. I’ve had two Bluebirds that I didn’t even know were around. I bet yall have seen one of these feeders, maybe even have one, but they were new to me!

Kaye, I love watching birds feeding. What kind of food are you putting out that attracts bluebirds? I thought they just ate worms.

Panzey….I was just surprised as you are. Would have thought I was wrong but the “identifier” (AI generated…which I’m skeptical of but seems correct so far) names this bird as Eastern Bluebird and he has been to the feeder 3-4 times a day. The seed I’m using is simply a no waste mixed songbird variety. Large and small blend. I’ve been amazed. I also thought it was too early to be seeing bluebirds; however they do not seem to be scouting for nesting boxes. Funny thing is when I have had bluebird houses out in early spring….no luck. I have rarely seen them here. I’m going to try to post a picture from my feeder. It’s usually a video and I know that will not post but I will try to get a screen shot.
I’d like to hear everyone’s opinion of whether this is truly a Bluebird or not. Both AI and I can be wrong…🤣

Definitely a bluebird--awesome! Sounds like your camera and Shawna's trail camera are providing some lively winter entertainment. Glad you shared.

It is definitely a Bluebird Kaye. I guess he's hungry and is willing to take your offerings of food! lol I've never saw them at any feeders I've had out but they do love my nesting houses in the spring and summer. They hatch 2 or 3 batches of babies every year. Beautiful picture!

Thanks for the confirmation, Shawna. I thought it was, but it seems so out of character for Bluebirds. So far, he is on a fairly regular schedule of visiting 3-4 times a day….mostly around the same times. I’m not getting a thing done since the girls gave me this thing! What has really surprised me is the rather large variety of different species that visit. And the camera has a microphone so I am beginning to recognize their sounds.

Oh how wonderful! I have just regular Trail Camera's down at my pond. I have ducks that live at the pond that I feed which in turn attracts lots of other critters - racoons, possums, deer, squirrels, turkeys, and several kinds of small birds and this year I've had geese, Whistling Ducks (I had never saw before), a masked Fox Squirrel (I've never saw before either, as it's different from a regular Fox Squirrel) and of course then Fox, Coyotes and a Bobcat every now and then. And yes I spend way to much time watching them or looking at the trail camera pictures, but it is so much fun.
