And the SEC and Big 10 football conferences have dominated the conference battles in terms of building conferences.
I can't see them just wanting to throw all of that out, and then to probably be split into two, creating 4 of the 10 Super Conferences.
And then this idea that if your team isn't good enough, it could be kicked down a level... the schools that aren't the best surely would fight that, as these teams have fought to be a part of the SEC or Big 10 (or whatever conferences), and they want to make guaranteed deals, not conditional deals, as you likely won't be paying the minor league schools the same as the larger schools.
I got a feeling this is them trying to promote the idea, but you'll have to make enough of the non-great programs comfortable with this for it to have a chance.
