Tretter was an outright shame. He toiled for several years in GB backing up (whoever it was at that point). They FINALLY (I'd been calling for it for at least the season before, if not several) installed him as the starting C... and he promptly gets a season-ending injury in training camp. They then (basically no other choice) put rookie 5th round pick Corey Linsley at C... he keeps the spot for 10 years, while Tretter gets traded the following off-season.

I'm glad it worked out for him in Cleveland, but still wish it could have been in GB...

Kind of the same thing happened to Bryan Bulaga. After playing RT for years, including a couple of years post-Clifton when the LT's GB had ranged from questionable to downright awful, McCarthy FINALLY (another thing I had been calling for) moved him to LT - as part of his whole "flip the left and right sides" experiment on OL. And... he promptly blows his knee out at Family Night. Enter rookie 4th round pick David Bahktiari. The next season, Bulaga's back at RT...
