Technically, Jenkins has two years left on his deal, but in reality that last year is just a holding spot and he's not getting it, as it's too much money and none of it is guaranteed.
So Jenkins wants to lock in a new deal now, instead of going into what is basically a contract year, and he would like it to be at the OG price tag, as top OG get paid more than top Centers.
Jenkins is already at #2 top Center pay.
Also there is sort of an old rule in sports that Ted Thompson followed as he saw first hand it cause issues in the locker room, you don't let the new guy come in and be paid more than your current top guy at the position (if you have a current top guy), so in theory, Jenkins should be asking to match or slightly beat Banks contract, at least slightly.
Supposedly Jenkins looks forward to playing Center, just not the potential lower pay for the position. And C Jason Kelce says Center is the easier OL position by far, so Jenkins should be better there.
I don't nessarily agree with Jenkins holdout but it's good business strategy to either look for an extension or to lock up some of the 2026 pay, and it's smart of the Packers to not give it yet.
But if Jenkins was injured, then there wasn't much he could do in camp anyways.
