What I would like to know is if Banks and Tom practiced all week? They probably would have been better off just practicing the backups all week and not even plan for Banks or Tom to be out there at all. Shuffling is the worst thing you can do to an OL. Not saying it's an excuse, but it can't be helpful to an OL (Morgan in this case) to start a game on the bench, then be plugged in at RT, then shifted to LG - and did he also play RG at one point?) By the end of the game, it almost felt like a pre-season game - "let's try THIS combination and see what happens".
The most alarming thing to me is that LaFleur indicated that this was the most game planning he's ever done to stop one particular player. And even with all that planning, that one particular player still caused all sorts of disruptions. So either the plan was bad (maybe they over-thought it?), or the players are incapable of executing a good plan. But it's not a good look when you say you spent all week planning how to protect the QB, and this is the result - a QB under intense, constant pressure all game...
Bottom line: the OL was a mess that whole game. And it wasn't one guy, or two. It was all five guys.
Good news: it's week 3. If they can get guys healthy, there's plenty of time to get their stuff together...
