Two items that have annoyed me at times,
When someone makes a pre-snap penalty, such as moving early, but there is CLEARLY enough time to reset. If the other team didn't move, then why not let re-sent?
If the ball is snapped or the other team moves off side as a result of the initial movement, that's a different story... but like a WR thought the ball was going to be snapped on one, but it was a fake count, to get the defense to show their hand.forst before going into the real count.
Yes the WR moved their body, but they never left the line of scrimmage and the defense did not jump off sides and the DL didn't jump because of it, and there was plenty of time to re-set.
Like that didn't effect the play... let them play!
The other one, is when their is a penalty, that had zero effect on the play... like a DB gets a holding penalty, on a WR, but the ball was already in the air going to the opposite side of the field, had zero effect on the play. Or holding on an OL, on the complete backside of a play and there was no cutback.
This is ESPECIALLY true on ST return penalties, Refs call something that didn't effect the play.
I mean, players should be smarter, why are you causing a penalty on something that had zero effect on the play... but do we really need penalties on those plays?
