I fully expect LaFleur to be here for a while.

OTOH, we have a new team president - Ed Policy. LaFleur and Gutekunst both have contracts that run through the 2026 season. It is not unheard of for a new president (or GM, or owner, or whatever) to want to bring in their own guys. So it's not quite as farfetched as it may otherwise seem to say that LaFleur (and Gute) both have a little bit riding on how this season turns out.

You never want a coach coaching during the last year of this contract. So this off-season will be telling. Again, my expectation is that there will be an extension. But even then, the length of said extension will also tell us something - if it's only a year or two, that might indicate that their seats are getting a little warm (compared to, say, a 10-year extension)...
