Right now he's receiving oxygen through tubes, plus he's got a tracheostomy to make sure he continues to get air. He is unable to speak at this time. His mandible (jaw) is apparently broken in two places on the left side, one place in the front and one place on the right. His maxillary bone (above the mouth and on both sides of the nose) is also broken, and so are his zygomatic bones (cheekbones). His frontal bone (forehead) is broken on the tops of both orbits (eye sockets). This is major damage.
What a horrible crash. It's always tragic when a rider of such talent goes down as he's pushing the envelope, surpassing all distances in the history of man. He's one of three riders in history to jump in the 400 foot range. He's the first to crash at that kind of distance, and this shows that 400 feet is no joke. It's amazing that he's alive. It will take him a year to heal up very well at all. Let's all keep him in our prayers!
Sonya said he jumped as far as 440 feet before that crash. Right now she's tearing down his ramp and packing everything up. She could use our prayers too.
