The camera zooms in to Memorial Coliseum, the home of this year’s edition of Road to Ruin…
…inside of arena, the camera reveals the coliseum is still undergoing preparations for the event…
…The camera pans the arena, showing the various staffers running around, running wires, getting the lights, sound, and everything else set up and ready. The camera pans up toward the upper level of the arena and a man can be seen sitting alone in the center of the arena’s upper level. The camera zooms in to find none other than Talon Wilkinson. Talon sits a watches as the camera makes its way up to him, upon its arrival Talon smirks momentarily before looking back down to the arena floor…
Talon, “Hans… I thought I’d have gotten a little more from you than just a little ‘we’ll see who the better man is’ and ‘you’re in the spotlight division for a reason’ …wow, I must have really dropped off that bad. To say that I belong with guys like Bryan Deas, Shakir, Evers, Draconis, Fallen, AV, Grunge, or your bother Heinrich?”
Talon pauses as he takes a deep breath.
Talon, “Well then, its going to be pretty embarrassing when I defeat you and take the world title from around your waist… You see Hans, the point you seem to miss is that my problem with your lotto, it’s not the same as Ed’s… You see, Eddie and Ronnie both feel like you’re using the lottery to duck the real challengers by shielding yourself with weak challengers in a “random” order. I on the other hand, feel like you’re just giving the undeserving free shots at the gold without making them earn it. While that may play into the same reasons as Ed and Ronnie have previously posed, I just think that it helps promote the mediocrity that the bottom ¾ of the roster has bought in to. Now before you call me a hypocrite, I too fall in the category of “undeserving” right now, Im in the Spotlight division, battling with the division manager, David Willyard, and I can’t get a fair shot at the Spotlight title, so why would I be in line for a shot at the World title? …is it so you don’t have to face Ronnie at the Pay Per View, only a week after he beat you in an unsanctioned match or is it because you’re flawed socialist system of ‘giving everyone a chance’ is just so badly designed that you keep getting ‘fed’ chump and chump so your win/loss record looks good when you finally do drop that belt? You’re a great competitor Hans, there is no denying that, you earned the World Title and I’m not trying to say that you haven’t, but I am simply doing what you would do if our roles were reversed… I’m speaking the truth and waiting for your brilliant response… So I sit here, watching the Road To Ruin set as it is constructed from the floor up, and I am envisioning our encounter just 48 hours away. We will step into the ring, face to face, man to man, and then we will engage in combat. Will your “supremacy” triumph over my “Killswitch” We’ll have to wait and see, but one thing I can tell you is that when the night is over and you are sitting there with Mark Anderson doing your interview for next week’s promo time, You won’t be saying I ‘deserve’ to be in the spotlight division, because in just a few minutes in the ring with me, you’ll see that my performance is not what has cost me my place in the world championship division here in the HWA, it was me not giving the camera enough face time, and neglecting the phone calls of the David Willyards of the world… it’s Politics Hans, and you should know that by now. Maybe if I had just ‘succumb’ to Senester the HWA would be a lot different… but that’s neither here, nor there. so Hans, Champ… I’m curious as to how this will all play out, will you continue to over look me and write me off, because if you do then you will be the one people look at as ‘just another’ in a line of poor title reigns, and it will be I who ‘restores glory’ to the HWA Championship, which is only fitting since I am blamed for the start of the blight that is the past year of HWA Champions… So let me be that guy Hans, let me take the title from you and leave you sitting around with your pals over in “Team Hans” camp as you talk about the title reign that wasn’t… You can have your lottery, but I’ll have your Championship. I’m relishing the chance to end this ‘punishment’ or ‘death sentence’ that I was given when I was ‘signed’ over to the Spotlight division, I have everything to gain Hans, and nothing to lose… you say you’re going to give me some ‘humility’ but you see, Senester has tried that, Willyard has tried that, hell Butch, Buff, and AC James have tried that… and they all failed. I am not a humble man, but I am no fool either… I know my limitations, and you, and your skills in the ring, are far within those limitations. I am the Reflection of Perfection, and Im not flinging it out there as a catch phrase or to strike fear into your heart, I’m just telling you so that when I beat you and bring the World Heavyweight Championship to the new World order, you’ll be prepared and can have a nice witty response prepared for your post match interview.”
Talon pauses as he looks down on the workers who have began to construct the ring in the center of the floor…
Talon, “Hans, Road to Ruin is where Senester said he was going to strip me of my world title, it was the start of his attempt to transition from obtaining my love, to making me suffer for rejecting him… it’s been a year, and I’m still here, stronger than I was before, and I’m still enduring punishment after punishment. My resolve, my resilience, and my desire to climb out of this hole I’ve helped to dig is growing more and more every day, and at this year’s Road to Ruin, I’ll climb out of that hole with a statement victory over the World Heavyweight Champion, and I guess in the end, I’ll have your Lottery to thank for it. Ha, go figure.”
Suddenly, from behind him, Talon hears a voice.
???, “You sound ready to roll… that’s good.”
Talon turns, a surprised look coming across his face as he sees Kaleb standing behind him.
Kaleb, “I’ve seen you before title matches before, I know you like to sit in the arena and clear your head… so I figured I’d stop by and learn a thing or two… you know, first hand.“
Talon lets an easy smile cross his face for a moment as he again deeply exhales and looks back down at the empty arena.
Talon, “You’ve been training hard Kaleb, and you’ve ring skills are coming along nicely… when you worked with Ronnie earlier this week, it really reminded me of myself about 5 years ago.”
Kaleb, “Well, thanks, but I don’t need my ego boosted, I need to get a pro fight.”
Talon, “You will, in time. Keep training, you’re still not ready to cross over.”
Kaleb, “Mr. Wilkinson, with all due respect, I think I could win the spotlight title before the year is over if I signed with the HWA this week.”
Talon turns and faces Kaleb, a serious look on his face.
Talon, “That’s the thing, you need to be better than that. You need to be able to win the World title when you come on board, that way when you start at the bottom, it’s a race to the top, not a year long trek to win the bottom title… you want to be spotlight champion in 3 months, All Star in 6, and world champion in a year… That’s what Im trying to prepare you for. Don’t do like me and start off too early, sure eventually you’ll peak and be unstoppable, by why put yourself through all the needless punishment and tribulations. Get ready because once you start wrestling full time, you can’t take a break, or else you end up in the situation I’m in right now…“
Kaleb remains silent as he absorbs what he has heard.
Kaleb, “…I understand what you are saying, but I’ve been talking with Malik at the gym, and he thinks it’d be a good idea for us to team up, since his strengths are my weaknesses, and vice versa, and I think it would be a good way to get into the business, it’s always good to have someone watching your back, especially someone like MJ…”
Talon, “Tagging up with Malik is your master plan for breaking into the HWA? Have you not seen what the tag division looks like right now? TNT has been together for a long time, The ArchAngels are brothers, Anton and Davis have been ‘tagging up’ since before they were wrestlers, and then you have those clowns in the SoA who while weak individually, have numbers on their side, it would be suicide to just jump in as a fresh new tag team, that has never teamed before…”
Kaleb, “Now see, I thought you might say that, so outside of the Icebox, I’ve been talking to a guy who is familiar with the HWA and its dealings… He said he would manage our team free of charge until we won the tag team titles. ”
Talon’s eyebrow raises in curiosity as he continues to listen.
Kaleb, “So I’ve agreed to work with him, but I told him I wouldn’t start wrestling until you gave me the approval, so if you would, come out and meet him, he arranged for me and MJ to travel to Road to Ruin, this guy is legit. He said he’s molded champions, and he knows a lot of trainers who can help us get ready to go pro.”
Talon, “So he’s outside right now?”
Kaleb, “Yeah, he’s waiting in the car, said he had some calls to take care of…”
Talon, “ok, let’s go meet him then.”
Talon and Kaleb make their way out of the stadium, as they walk toward the gates to exit, they continue their conversation…
Kaleb, “So do you think that after Road to Ruin, you could get a few guys to challenge myself and Muzik so you can see where we are and how far we need to go before you’ll give the OK to sign my contract over to the HWA?”
Talon looks at Kaleb, still doubting his readiness as he pushes through the doors of the arena.
Talon, “I’ll do that for you, sure… what did you say this agent’s name was again?”
Before Kaleb can answer, Talon looks out to the parking area of the arena and sees a a black convertible with a familiar face sitting in the drivers seat.
Talon, “you’ve got to be kidding me…”
Dexter, “What up Playa’!!!!”
