Heinrich picks up another card, as his brother places his own back down amongst the pile.
(Heinrich): Right, next question. For the benefit of the fans, what have you been doing for the past few days?
(Hans): Training… with you I might add. I'm mixing in more cardio and endurance training than would be normal given that I'll have three bouts to make my way through. Add in some sparring and weights, refinement of my technique in certain areas with my good friend Mark Spencer, I'm sure you get the idea.
He looks at his younger brother who nods his head, and awaits his own question.
(Hans): Now, you're also facing Grunge at 'Road to Ruin' along with Merlyn. Did you see his latest promo, and if so, do you have anything to say?
Heinrich extends his arms out in front of him, fingers laced together, causing a few light cracking sounds to occur, much to his brother's consternation as he thinks on his response.
(Hans): Please don't do that, you know how much I hate it.
Heinrich grins in response, before cricking his neck to the left. He emits a short laugh, mouthing 'sorry' at his brother, before responding.
(Heinrich): Yeah, I've seen the promo… *Laughs* I've seen his little friend getting all angry and aggressive over something that I've said that wasn't directed at him in the first place…
He leans forward in his chair, attention fixed on his brother.
(Heinrich): Seriously, did you see him? All that was missing was for him to turn green…
He looks back at the camera, as Hans chortles with amusement as he sets his cards down once more.
(Heinrich): Ok, 'Finn', let me set 'the record straight' for your benefit… even though I shouldn't have to, but I guess you can't help being an idiot…
A weary sigh escapes him at that moment.
(Heinrich): That remark that you got your panties in a twist over, was done because Fallen came out to help Grunge at the last show. Now given that in the week before that match, Grunge was proclaiming himself World champion elect, and even now is still saying he's going to be world class, I found that he needed a helping hand quite amusing. You got that? Do you understand Finn, that I was referring to Fallen with my quip about someone having to hold Grunge's hand, and not you? Just because everyone who walks under or along the SoA banner seems to have great difficulty in getting names right, doesn't mean that others outwith you lot of redneck idiots do! As for you Grunge, that's a bold statement to make. 'No business being in a wrestling ring' if you can't beat Merlyn and I? Will you be singing from that same hymn sheet once that happens though, I wonder...
He leans back, snapping his fingers together.
(Heinrich): Oh yeah, since we're on the subject of Fallen. Does he even know where our mutti lives?
Hans shakes his head slowly from side to side.
(Hans): Nope.
(Heinrich): Thought as much.
He reaches down and lifts up another card.
(Heinrich): Anyway, final card for you Hans.
He clears his throat, and reaches for his glass of water, taking a sip from it, as his eyes rove over the words.
(Heinrich): By now, you've no doubt heard what Talon Wilkinson has said to you. Do you feel that you have anything to add to what's already been said?
Hans sighs in a theatrical manner, hitting the flank of his left leg with his left hand as he does so.
(Hans): Oh, if I must...
(Heinrich): Good, because I spent time bullet pointing these ones, and I'm not wanting my time to have been wasted...
His eyes, twinkling with amusement, look directly at Hans for a moment, before back down at the card.
(Heinrich): First off, are you going to defend me at all against his little jibe about the company he's now with?
(Hans): *Smirks* No...
(Heinrich): Oh, you're no brother of mine...
The two share a laugh.
(Heinrich): Right, what about him saying that Ronnie and Ed feel that you're using this Lottery to duck the real challengers, etcetera etcetera... you've heard it before...
(Hans): Well as I said last time, where were the 'real challengers' when I won my title? I'd beaten Eddie quite comprehensively across the entire evening, so I doubt he'd have wanted to step straight back into the ring with me. Ronnie had lost the All-Star title to Buff, so why on earth would he be 'rewarded' for his defeat, with elevation into a shot at a more prestigious title straight away? I'd beaten AC the event or two before hand already quite convincingly. Talon, was of course, in the hands of David Willyard. I guess that left Butch and Buff, the latter of whom I of course faced that following Havoc...
He scoffs with irritation, as he leans back in his seat.
(Hans): Now I could have sat back and 'waited' for them to get their act together... which they did once I announced the Lottery, and they realized that they'd not be getting special dispensation because of who they are, or what they feel entitled to. But then, what I'd probably be hearing now is, 'you're not a fighting champ'.
(Heinrich): Ok, what about him saying that were you in his shoes, you'd be saying what he's saying?
(Hans): Were I in his shoes? All I know for sure, is that I wouldn't go throwing stones in glass houses... *Sighs* Look, I get what he means, but these 'mediocre' wrestlers that he refers too, actually get on with the job in hand, rather than whining about this, that and the next thing. So what if they don't 'deserve a shot' by his reckoning, what gives him the right to dictate on such matters? It's not that I don't want to face Ronnie, far from it, I'd love a match with him, free of interference... which is unlikely to happen thanks to a variety of reasons, but I want a challenge. And that challenge is to face everyone, and beat them week in, and week out. I don't want to do the normal 'one in four' or 'one in three' that seems to be the going rate for title defences, against cherry picked opponents I might add. That it's determined randomly adds to the excitement, which clearly Talon isn't feeling right now... maybe because I'm actually doing something with my title, rather than missing shows, going AWOL for weeks on end, and have people more concerned with the fact that he kissed Senester, rather than because he beat 'x', 'y' and 'z' in defence of his belt.
(Heinrich): Do you 'write him off', because he certainly feels you do...?
(Hans): As a wrestler, no. As a person, yes. He can be the 'Reflection of Perfection' all he desires. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all... but personally, I just see another 'Victim'.
He chuckles.
(Hans): Ah, Draconis. I'd almost forgotten my old catchphrase. Thanks for reminding me...
(Heinrich): Back on topic Hans.
(Hans): And say what? Refute some imagery and poetic words about being put down, rising from the ashes, reclaiming the glory...? Or hit back at 'I've got nothing to lose and everything to gain' with something equally overused?
He falls silent briefly, chewing his lip, ignoring the look from his brother.
(Hans): I'll say this. That Talon feels capable of beating me doesn't faze me. We've never fought, so a true comparison isn't possible, but I'm older and wiser than the wunderkind, and I know how to turn that hunger for glory and search for gratification against someone. He can climb out of the hole he's dug for himself if he wishes, but he'll find that I'm already long gone up that ladder I created for myself. That humility he says others have failed to deliver on, will come about when he's on his back, unable to summon the energy to lift his shoulders and break the pin. When he looks up at the bright glare of the lights above him, and hears the roar of the crowd chanting my name, he won't need any mirror with which to see himself humbled, he'll feel it in every fibre of his body.
He turns to his brother at last.
(Hans): That do you?
(Heinrich): I'd say so.
Heinrich focuses his attention on the camera, as Hans picks up his glass of water, sipping at it.
(Heinrich): Well, that's the end of that I guess. Thanks for watching, and tune in for 'Road to Ruin'!
They look off camera, waiting for their cue. Getting it, they rise to their feet.
(Hans): Good, let's get out of here. I'm famished...
The scene fades out to black as the two men step off camera.
