Some of you may know that our FHS site is not free.

The cost is $13.99 a month. Kaye has been paying the cost as well as handling the administrative duties. The thought came to me the other day that I had not sent her any money to help pay the fee in over a year!
Anyone else wanting to contribute to the cost of the FHS site can send a check to Kaye at 329 McGinnis Circle, Collierville, TN. 38017

I wonder how many Forest Bearcats live in Collierville. I've lived here since 1994.

My husband’s cousin, Rodney Jones lives there. His wife, Beth, was a schoolteacher for 30 years there. She passed away last year. Rodney played football at FHS & at Miss State. Rodney had 2 younger brothers and a sister who also went to Forest; Rocky, Jay & Shauntae Jones.

Don, you probably realize that Kelly and I are here. (FHS 1962 and 1963). Since 2001. I am sure that there are several Bearcats here in Cville and even more in the entire Metro area. Some of the ones that come to mind are Leesa Lee Wilkinson; I run into her in Kroger occasionally. Also, there is Susan Lee ….?? She and her husband might live in Hailey Plantation area. She was a year or two ahead of me and a majorette in my generation. One of my decade’s favorite FHS teachers, Mrs Richardson, (government, economics) lived in the assisted living facility near Methodist Hospital in Gtown until she died. Her younger son might still live in Germantown. I did not know him while in Forest but spoke on the phone with him several times just before she died. I did know his older brother Randy, RIP, a couple years older while at FHS. Both John Townsend and Alex Craig Graham were long time residents of Memphis until they each died just a few years apart. I saw both of them often and we kept in touch as they got sick. John’s widow, Claudia, son Christian, and grandchildren still live in Memphis. Alec’s wife lives in the area and I hear from her occasionally. I’m sure there are more; I will think of them as soon as I post this. Do you know any?

Kaye and Don, Rodney Greener Class of 70 lives in the Memphis area somewhere, also Nelda Risher has moved to Olive Branch and hers and Gary’s youngest son live there too, or somewhere in the area.

Yes! Nelda has recently moved up this way. I’m not too far away from Olive Branch. I’m hoping to get her contact info and try to meet up with her.

Former Coach Warren Crain and his wife Susan( for those that don’t know Warren, he came to FHS with Coach Bramlett when he came back in the spring of 66) lives in Germantown.

I knew Leesa was up here, but have not seen her in quite a while. My wife has retired, so we're looking at moving to Fairhope/Gulf Shores. Do you know of any of us living down there?

I chatted on Classmates with Ben Crowell not long ago (Class of 75). He lives somewhere on the Gulf Coast, Alabama, I think.

Don, there are several in the Mobile/Gulf Coast area but I don’t know much about Fairhope/Gulf Shores specifically. But I’ve found that all one needs to do ask ask loudly enough and some Bearcat reading this site will know the answer.

You know, there will be a lot of FHS 1970-something grads gathering in Forest for lunch this very weekend. Why don’t you drive down for the day and see who is there? Our gatherings are always fun!

Was not aware and am happy to send a check to Kaye. Looking at the terms, fees are collected in choice of 1 month, 3 months or 6 months. a 6 month fee @ $13.99 comes to $83.94.
Will send a check to Kaye for the 6 months. By the way, I saw the address but am not familiar with Kaye's last name.

Also Kaye, my father had good friends in Collierville, Tennessee named Richard and Russell Pate that trained horses also. Russell passed away a few years back, I last saw "Dickie" at my Dad's funeral in 2016.
There's a lady that lives in Collierville also that I used to converse with online. Her husband was a judge in Collierville but passed away a few years ago also. She is a historian and very pro-military. Haven't chatted with her in years as I dropped all major social media platforms many years ago. I believe her name was Melinda Hall. Very nice lady. As a historian, she was interested in talking with me about my brother-in-law (wife's side of the family) relationship with James Dean. My brother-in-law was first cousins with James Dean and has a lot of memorabilia and stories from when he was a kid in the 1940's in Indiana. My brother-in-law is Joe Dean (their Dads' were brothers). He's pictured in a family pic sitting on the ground next to the little girl in the wagon. James is kneeling next to the wagon (wearing glasses).

Mark, you do have some interesting connections! There are not as many horse related activities in Collierville as there used to be. Many have gone a little further out of town. Local history groups are still strong and are diligently trying to protect our Town Square. There are several historical buildings and Civil War Sites. Our favorite place to worship is Chapel on the Square. Reminds us of “home” in many ways. In fact, a railroad track runs right through the edge of town square much like the one in Forest.

I really wish you had found this site several years ago. We had quite lively conversations about our years growing up in Forest. I’m guessing now but I believe we had Bearcats posting who graduated FHS as far back as 1945. But those precious ones are no longer with us. I’m not even sure what the youngest FHS grads have joined us here but probably 1990 or so. Leigh is definitely one of the youngest. She AND her mother Shawna have been active Bearcat participants. When I think about it, we have a lot of history created right here.

One of my favorite threads that was ever started here was “did you have a part time job growing up in Forest and what was it?” That was a good one. Robert H, did you start that one?

Does anyone else have a favorite thread they remember?

Thank you for the reminder, Lynda Sue. I appreciate all Kaye does to keep Bearcats connected through the message board. She shouldn’t be responsible for the monthly fee as well. Will get a check in the mail.

Kaye does an awesome job with this site for us. I always give Kaye a Check at the Nabs and Coke Reunion. Are we having one this year? If not I’ll GLADLY get one in the mail to Kaye.

Thanks, everyone. I think it will be a good idea if I go ahead and pay in advance with whatever funds are contributed at this time so you know how we stand. There is a tiny bit of discount if you pay in advance instead of month to month. In the past, I’ve been paying for 3 mo at a time. Actually I was a bit apprehensive about paying for more than three months while Boardhost was making some changes I didn’t like. I halfway expected it to just disappear. As of today I have received enough to pay for a little over 3 months which should get us to early Sept. Will update as we go along.
When this site gets so quiet for long periods of time, and all I have to do is try to keep the spammers deleted, I sometimes wonder if there is still enough interest to keep it going. But then I hear from many of you Bearcats who do not do FaceBook and depend on this as a way to stay in touch. That makes it worth it, IMO. For those who DO use FaceBook, don’t forget to check out our photo albums on the group page “FHS Reminiscing Photos.” It’s great. And Glenda Sessions Brown has done a wonderful job of keeping all of the photos organized and available for viewing there.

To answer your question, Steve, I’m not saying there will NEVER be another Nabs n Coke Party, but I’m not planning one for this July. Who knows….Nabs n Coke might take on a whole new life! Change is a good thing. And I thank you for your loyal support all these years.

Kaye I understand about the gatherings. I enjoyed them because I got to meet and get to know older grads I’d never met like Dr. H, Henry Glaze, Tony Henderson and Kelly just to name a few. Thank you for all the hard work you, Linda Sue, both Glindas and others did to put the Nabs and Cokes on each year.

I will be forever grateful for Kaye and Kelly in putting the Coke & Nab event together. It has been a must right after Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter Service for me. As Steve said I got to see and talk to a whole bunch of FHS Bearcats that were younger and old than us and it was all in our little old home town on a Saturday in July. You can not buy this kind of wonderful time with so many special people.

Again, thank you to all who helped and If I can do anything to help get it going again, just let me know.

Thanks again Kaye and Kelly, you two are special in my heart.

Nabs & Coke Reunion

Jimmy & Steve , I could not agree more about how special the Nabs & Coke reunion is. I have had several people tell me how much they look forward to it. Kaye, you have done so much for so many years to do this for everyone. We cannot express our gratitude enough for all that you have done and are doing. It’s not often that you get to see that many of your Hometown classmates from many different classes in one place. Yes, it is such a blessing that we were able to become friends and visit with our older FHS graduates(who were our idols) and reminisce about our sweet time growing up in Forest; our shared love of wonderful teachers, parades, football games, band, basketball, baseball, little league games, the mom and pop grocery stores, the hometown pharmacies, the churches, the gas stations, crusing from Eady’s cafe & back to Algoods(turning around & doing it all over), getting ice from the ice house to go home and make ice cream (the old fashioned way), rolling yards, soaping the downtown business windows on Halloween, just to name a few of those special memories. Even though there is a wide range of ages, we all share a special bond, and that was growing up in Forest, Mississippi! No things were not perfect but they were all memories that we shared, regardless of age. We will do whatever you need us to do to keep this going, Kaye. We love you and we love our Hometown!!

Oh my goodness….with all these sweet memories, Lu, I think it highlights WHY the Nabs Party was not just another class reunion. The people that CAME made the difference. Many of you helped in so many ways with the physical part, but, honestly, those who CAME made it what it was. We had such appreciation, gratitude, and loving spirits because of our shared background. But Bearcats came from near and far with smiles on their faces, loving hearts, and even “forgiving” hearts that taught us how to open up and make brand new memories. Wish the whole world knew what Bearcats know.

Kind words, Steve and Jimmy. Thank you. Both of you named the very reasons it was successful. It took all of you put together to develop into what it became. Never would have worked without the Southern Grace we grew up with. And, who knows, we just might get to the point that we have to get our hometown “fix” again!
