A #1 receiver is a standout playmaker, a guy you can count on in pressure situations, and is very consistent. Someone that will be double teamed regularly and will consistently win in 1 on 1 match ups. A guy the defense has to account for on every down or they will get burned.

I realize it generally takes years to get there. I love Jordy and Adams, both 2nd RD picks (great picks) If memory serves, you were wanting Watson in the 1st. Then you went on to guarantee that he was going to break all of the rookie receiver records bla bla bla.

You, Yoop, were putting a lot of hype into him before he played a down (we all remember that first play). You were predicting ROY numbers from him. Honestly I was really hoping it would play out that way but there are no sure things in the NFL.

I'm not saying they should take a WR in the 1st, I think they should take the BPA at a position of need. You also have to consider the cost of a veteran receiver has skyrocketed over the past few years making young receivers that much more coveted. I like the young receivers we have but let's face it, they only have so much time to develop. If they haven't earned playing time, at some point you're going to have to give someone else an opportunity.

To some degree the WR group is a carousel. You can't afford to pay everyone and you better be developing the replacement. Like when we had Jordy and they drafted Adams. Was it a sure replacement, no. But you need to keep the high end talent coming in and competing. Can you find a diamond in the rough, sure Driver is one of my all time favorites but it is rare.
