You would be correct. Bob Harlan, when describing why he made the move to Thompson as GM, referenced the McKenzie situation specifically. He said he had been talking to Sherman a day or two before a game, I believe it was vs. the New York Giants. And Sherman talked more about McKenzie's situation than he did the Giants. Harlan indicated that was what made him believe that it was a bad idea for one man to hold both jobs - he felt that Sherman's focus should have been on prepping for the Giants, but because he also held the GM role, he couldn't do that.
