One more comment on the Packers ILBs:

We've seen how GB has gone about finding superb athletes for that role and one of the reasons is that teams have used more and more 12 personnel in recent times.

The idea behind that 12 strategy is by putting (2) TEs on the field it forces the defense to match with "heavier" personnel. That means an extra ILB instead of an extra CB in Nickle.

And once the offense gets you in heavier personnel, what do they do ? They throw the ball !
MLF does the same thing on his side of the ball- get the defense to go heavy and throw it.

So to counter this, Hafley wants super-athletic ILBs who can cover. That flips the advantage away from the offense.
Cooper, Q Walker, Hopper and Simmons all fit that mold. Its just the next iteration of cat n mouse on Sundays.
I guess you could say Hafley is building a better mouse.
