I'm not sure why your original rostrata died.......it must have rotted out? Perhaps your high humidity may be contributing to its demise too (in combination with cold/wet winters)?? We get lots of winter rain/snow here too (average 4" or 10cm every month of the year). But we have lower dewpoints/humidity than other portions of the USA.
