Re: Reflections of the 1972 Forest High School Band
It certainly warms my heart as one of the older band members to see how many of you younger ones value the FHS Band experience also. Who would have thought this tradition of excellence would have carried on as long as it did. It’s in our bones. I truly believe that. And, of course, I have the pride of being one of the “four” baby members (7th grade) that moved up to big band during Hal Polk’s first year as Band Director “anywhere!” Fresh out of college, he and Joyce started their lives in Forest. From there, our Superior String started. Not only did we have a musical training that is outstanding to this day, but the friendships made through those years are treasures. I’m not sure I would have had the opportunity to get to know you upper and lower class members if not for our band years. Just want you to know how thankful I am for that.
