Re: Reflections of the 1972 Forest High School Band
The only regret that I have is not being able to stay in Forest for my last 2 1/2 years of high school and being in the band. I always had a deep appreciation for music (and still do) but Forest band took it to a new level. I was in the swing band also along with Scott Palmer and Ben Crowell on T-Bones. Played old tunes from the 40's as well as more modern ones like the Beatles. Leaving Forest in the middle of my sophmore year at least let me enjoy the football marching season that year. The rest of my sophmore year was in Chattanooga at Tyner High School. Hated Tyner and played only in concert band. Decided to go to a smaller school north of Chattanooga (Ooltewah) where I enjoyed the band but it wasn't in the same class as Forest as far as talent. Thought I'd finish high school at Ooltewah but we moved my senior year to Shelbyville and I didn't feel like breaking in another high school band so I quit playing. Haven't touched the trombone since. Missed out on possible opportunities music wise but will always cherish the band at Forest. ganbar
