(Vanessa): I’ve had nothing but respect for you Toya these past years, but let’s just get one thing straight. This isn’t a courtroom like you’re accustomed to…this is the wrestling business, and while your life orbits around it, you are in fact not in it. I’m not talking out of my rear-end here missy; I’m speaking from pure observation and the experience of an educated broadcast journalist…a professional just like yourself. When I comment about Ronnie, I’m doing so objectively whether you see it that way or not. For the record, it should go without saying that I am not an athlete. The times I’ve competed in the ring were by contractual obligations as an HWA “talent.” I’ve never had any delusions about being an HWA superstar or top female performer so don’t try to compare what my real job here is to what I have been obligated to do in the past with or without any achievement in the ring.
Ronnie isn't currently World Championship material in my opinion because he doesn’t carry himself like a champion these days. What he did to me was nearly unforgivable. The way he comes out and bullies people around with the rest of his NWO buddies is childish. He used to stand for what was right in this business and has given in to everything about it that is wrong. I won’t forget the time he saved my ass from Dante’s Inferno. I won’t forget defending him against AC James and his vile racial insults back in 2009 when they were at each other’s throats. I don’t discredit the work he’s done in the communities he’s elected to aid. I won’t forget his time with Senester in the Horde, and his initiation of sorts to go get rid of the Mayor of Birmingham. I know the things he thinks about from his past is what has shaped him, I was remarking that I really didn't see him preparing for this match, and I didn't consider sitting around thinking about the past a way to get ready for a main event match. He should be looking forward not backward.
Don’t you dare try and discredit Hans’ championship reign. He’s faced just about every superstar there was to face on his way up the ladder to the World Title including Senester himself and if they didn’t beat him then, what makes you think they even deserve a title shot or match with him now, simply for the sake of making him “worthy?” Being World Champion isn’t just about facing the top dogs in the company which Hans has beaten, it’s providing under-talent with opportunities that inspire and push them to become better athletes and that’s what Hans has and is doing. Ronnie on the other hand gets booked in matches with the SOA for instance as I recall when they first arrived and didn’t give them the time of day because he felt they were beneath him. I don't know what the personal situation was between them that they targeted him, but other than the few exchanges he had nothing to do with them. Hans is the total package my sweet, in the ring, out of the ring, all for, and all about this business itself…in the most unselfish way you could imagine. The World Heavyweight Championship Lottery has been drawn down the middle from day one, everyone’s name is in that tumbler, just because Ronnie’s had to wait his turn doesn’t make it illegitimate.
And if you are insinuating that Hans is in any way hiding behind me then you’re dead wrong again. Hans doesn’t like me ringside any more than Ronnie I’m sure wants you involved in this business. They are their own men, mine just happens to be a better human being and a better champion. I know Ronnie comes home to you, and you see a side of him that no one else does in the privacy of your own home, but I’m the one sitting ringside Toya. I’m the one week in and week out that watches him in action. I’m the one that has sat and watched him put steel chairs around men’s neck and jump off the top rope breaking it, and ending some careers. I’m the one that watches him bleed, sweet, and go through hell in the ring. I’m the one with better than a front row seat when he’s been called names and dumped on by his so-called friends. I’ve seen him cheated out of matches. I’m there before he laces his boots up 300 days a year to the time he takes them off and rings the blood and sweat out his socks. I’ve seen every broken bone, every pulled muscle, every grunt, holler or moan of agony his body has gone through. So don’t tell me I’m putting a “spin” on things or seeing things from a “bias” perspective. I know darn-tootin’ well what I’m talking about, I’m there for the mess of it all honey….you’re just the one that gets to clean up.
I know Ronnie’s had a rough career, I’ve seen the politics…I’m not blind or dismissing them, but it doesn’t give him an excuse, or a good enough reason to do some of the things that he did. Just because he “man’s up” to them doesn’t make everything alright or acceptable. The fact is he’s reached his threshold, and now he’s snapped under the constant pressure. It’s a sad thing to see, but not uncommon.
I really hadn’t planned on this. Like I said, I’ve had nothing but respect for you Toya. I know my job and I do it well, and you’re the one with the bias perspective. I’m sorry that this even came to this exchange between us. I know you love Ronnie just as much as I love Hans, but sweetie…I’m speaking the truth as a professional. I wouldn’t profess arguing certain legal analytics with you, I don’t expect you to argue my profession with me. You might not agree with what I have to say, you might not even like it, but I would hope that you would at least respect it.
Vanessa sends the transmission and goes to the kicthen. She kneels down to the 24 bottle wine cooler and pulls out a bottle of Pinot Grigio suddenly feeling the need to take the edge off. She grabs her phone and sends Hans a text message that reads "Babe...you won't believe this!" as the scene fades to black.
