You are absolutely right, Robert. When we were kids the Solid South was demo all the way. That began to change in 1948 at the demo nat'l. convention, when the Dixiecrats walked out of that convention over the civil rights plank of the demo platform. By 1960 it was picking up steam, and for the last 20 years or so its become the Solid
South for the Republicans.
