Maybe this could be about making sure he gets guarantees in 2026.
Or my assumption, that Jenkins is trying to get a 3rd contract from the Packers at OG prices locked in BEFORE he switches to Center, as he's already the 2nd highest paid Center, and he wants his next contract to go up and be based on OG prices, not Center prices.
But while Jenkins has two years left on his deal, that final year is probably a "forced negotiation" year... and not really expected to be paid, as it's $18.5 million for a single year, and nothing is guaranteed.
Therefore, Jenkins basically is in a contract year right now, so I think what he's doing makes a lot of sense from a players perspective.
I think the Packers are thin on the OL, one key injury and they could be toast. And I think they're trying to be a dominant run team this year, and that's largely by keeping Jenkins and upgrading Banks over Myers. Maybe, just maybe if one of the recent draft picks can beat out Rhyan, they might improve there too.
I don't think they'll even consider a trade right now, as their plan is to have a dominant run power OL and Jenkins is key to that plan.
