Do you mean your credit card has an annual fee of $96 a year? I haven't paid an annual fee in years. I used to have American Express, they had a fee, but now I use a bank that gives me the use of the card for free.
Elle, I also get a percentage back, and because I, like you and Muggs, run eveything I can on the card, it's a sizable chunk of "found" money. However, there are some companies/entities that still don't give me that option, and want a E-check from my checking account, or those companies that will charge me a fee for paying by credit card, so I don't. I also like to pay with the credit card as the bank will go to bat for you in a sticky situation where you are having a dispute with a vendor.
It's great that everthing is done for you automatically, and if you check every few days as I do, it's easy to make sure all's OK.
I was given an interesting offer by phone yesterday on a new/extra card, but decided to think about it and go into the local branch of that bank to further discuss it rather than sign up over the phone. It's about a creative use of their money, and I'm trying to decide if it's worth the bother. I think it may be.
I had heard that if you had too many credit cards, it counted against your credit score. Does anyone know if this is true?
