So once again. Because I can READ and look at images online and understand them - doesn't mean I can CALCULATE numbers in my head or on paper. Different part of the brain are used.
Let me explain again, as some people can't seem to grasp what dyscalculia is. I see you have no idea at all what it is or the effect it has where anything with numbers is concerned.
Researching on the Internet is READING which I was always a whiz at from the very start. I think you know this already. READING and MATH are totally different things you are confusing by combining. The two can't be combined as you're trying to do. One has nothing to do with the other. A person with dyscalculia can be the best researcher on earth and not be able to do simple math or make change. Since you do not have this disability you are trying to relate it to READING and perhaps looking at images. They're not related.
MATH is processed altogether differently by your brain than READING. These two are not in any way related. When you do math your brain has to calculate. When you read your brain just has to comprehend the words into something sensible - there are no calculations needed. No figuring needed, no numbers involved, just the ability to recognize the letters/words and make them into something meaningful. I don't think I can make it any clearer to you. So remember READING and MATH are totally different things processed differently by the brain.
As mentioned in another post tonight, RR gave up trying to teach me how to use the software to pay bills online. He got tired of having to sit there watching me make mistakes and having to go over everything constantly himself. By then I'd be near tears with frustration and have a good tension headache. Then do it all again and again every time we went shopping.
You may remember I went to Motlow college here in TN because of the New Math. I was told I could perhaps learn that way. I went for 6 weeks and the teacher gave up. At the end of 6 weeks I till couldn't recite the multiplication tables. Every day she patiently retaught me how to divide but every day had to reteach me the same things. Every day we went over the mult' table. And since I couldn't remember them, had no way to use the numbers. Counting on fingers or making dots on paper was not allowed. She finally said she could not help me. That the New Math was not going to work for me.
