Which is the "zoom" selection on the wheel on top? The manual has 115 pages and I still can't find much helpful info for a Novice. Most of it is like reading a foreign language. I can't relate it to the camera. It's not geared to a beginner.
I couldn't care less about the date and time. How do I shut that off (REALLY SHUT IT OFF) so the batteries don't drain?
I have both rechargable and regular. The rechargable don't even last as long as the regular batteries and here where I live they're several times the price. They need constant recharging. Also... these last two rechargable ones drained just being in the little case I bought for the camera. They don't hold a charge. The regular batteries will hold a charge when not in the camera - unlike the expensive rechargables. I'm tired to grabbing the cannon just to find the batteries are dead yet again just like yesterday. I put fresh NEW regular batteries in the camera about 2 weeks ago, discouraged with the rapidly discharging rechargables. I didn't even get to take one friggin' measly pic.
The HP shows how much life the battery has left. With the Cannon it's anyone's guess and no info in the manual on how to show such info.
How do you make the little screen stay lit long enough to read it? How is the battery power checked? How is the date and time, already shut off, shut off so it stops draining the batteries?
I don't see how a Camera with 115 pages of semi-technical instructions would be considered a beginners camera.
