Re: The big one and the west coast...... Elle
I haven't finished the article, only read the first half, will read the rest later. It seems they are talking about Northern California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia and on up. We are in Southern California on the San Andreas. That's bad enough. What they get up North and in Alaska is total killer. I'd like to find out the maximum jolt they predict on the San Andreas. However, they are finding other faults all the time. The West L.A. area nearer to the ocean is subject to sinking, I forget the term for it. And the Northridge earthquake, a nasty 6.9, was on a new fault as well, centered about 10 miles from me. It may be the perfect storm, years of drought, torrential rain, a quake, and it all comes tumbling down. My ex lived a block from the beach in Oregon. That is horribly dangerous in a big quake, the tsunami would have wiped him off the face of the earth. Of course, he is no longer on the face of the earth at this point, anyway. His wife, the inheritance stealing b###h, sold the properties and moved inland. Too bad. I'd have loved to be able to throw her a line as she floated down past Malibu.
