Re: The big one and the west coast...... Elle
As I understood Mama to say, two are disabled and unable to work and/or live on their own. No matter which daughter she chose as the executor of the estate, the others may be hurt or unhappy with the choice. Those that are not disabled would have to look after the welfare of those who are. These two daughters are aging also (and employed I believe) and may not be able to physically or emotionally care for the disabled two. There is nothing wrong with that either as not all of us are good with caring for the disabled. That is a heavy load to bear no matter how much love and loyalty is there. Perhaps she and the two who are well, or perhaps all four can speak to an estate attorney. They're experienced in dealing with such cases where there are grown disabled children to consider - plus every conceivable situation. Since death is part of life and we will all die some day, I don't find it difficult to discuss with our kids at all. None seemed to care what we do with our estate. That's why I'm thinking of leaving the bulk of whatever is left to the local 501(C)3 Cat Rescues. I see first hand the good these people do. It's not written in stone but something I'm seriously considering.
