Old Fashioned Fun and Pranks 2
Reverend John Case of Forest United Methodist Church and his family came to our house quite often to share dinner and fellowship with our family. One time as the grownups talked in the living room, the son, Mark Case and I decided to scare my 3 sisters and his sister who were playing together in one of the bedrooms. I came up with an idea but didn't clue Mark in on it. He went to where the girls were so he could watch their reaction when I did my thing. I took an old mop, the kind with long white strings, put a cowboy hat on it and attached a Halloween mask to the mop head and went outside. It was nice and dark and I went to the window of the room they were in, banged on it and had that mop looking in the window. The girls went screaming out of the room ... along with Mark who got scared also because he didn't know what I had planned. I of course got a scolding from my parents but Rev Case just laughed it off. Speaking of Rev Case, at one time he was the Mississippi yo-yo champion and could do all sorts of tricks with his yo-yo. He incorporated it often when he did a children's sermon at church. Once he was even the guest speaker at Hawkins Middle school and amazed us with yo-yo tricks while he did a little sermon for the school. Totally different way of life back then but I believe those little things made us better adults as we grew up.
